Налог, характеризующийся повышением ставки с увеличением базы налогообложения. Наиболее часто встречающийся среди прогрессивных налогов-подоходный налог (income tax). По прогрессивным ставкам осуществляются также взносы в Систему национального страхования, налогообложение наследства (inheritance tax) и, в определенных пределах, выплаты налога на корпорации (corporation tax).
